The Debut Signing
In what was probably the first book signing ever held in a 'Gentlemen's Club', Kip's debut signing was held on June 7 at "Dancers Gentlemen's Club", 7094 Miramar Road in San Diego. To the surprise of all, a Hollywood Production Company, Skitezo Stezo Side Show (don't you just love the name) wanted to do a ET style production when they learned that some of the exotic dancers were going to dress up like Kip's characters in his book.
"This is exciting," Steve Watson (cinematographer) said. "Never has this type of book signing been done. I am happy to be a part of it.
Award winning author of numerous mystery novels Allen Russell said, "I'd like to compliment you (Kip) for thinking outside the box. Talk about original ideas for a book signing!"
Unfortunately, due to some production schedules the show was canceled the day before. However, Steve still wants to do it, but wants it to be in the Las Angeles-Hollywood area. Kip's readers bought books to be sent to the famous elite Special Forces, SEAL TEAM 5 in Iraqi (at an undisclosed location of course), two went to Costa Rica, one to Africa, and another to Alaska. Many readers bought more than one book. And some bought three. Despite prom and grad night, a rainy day, and three major events. Over a hundred people attended.
Some of the people (yes, including many women) managed to stay after the three-hour signing to keep an eye on the entertainment. Gee I wonder why.
Kip's Second Signing was a combination birthday and signing for his editor and proofreader Scott Strayer (who was still recovering from an stroke) at La Jolla's icon El Ranchero Restaurant. Scott and Kip have been friends since kindergarten. Needless, to say, many enjoyed the margaritas and Special Cheese Crisp Specials that filled tables for the June event, that lasted another three hours. There seems to be an ongoing trend at Kip's book signings, lots of food and drink are present. Oh well, we only live once they say. When's the next one?
After the success of Kip W. Ives debut book signing of Particulars of the Promiscuous Déjà Vu Consulting has announced, Kip will be signing books at some of their exclusive adult establishments throughout California. Kip first attended the grand opening of Hustler's Restaurant and Book Store in Downtown San Diego on October 2nd.
In December, he signed books for six hours, sold over a hundred books, at Las Vegas Love Boutique Grand Opening. Over 500 people attended the affair, including many celebrities where Déjà Vu had a awesome spread of food, drinks and great entertainment.
